Mrs. Sharon Jones Abbott, age 66 of Walkersville passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at home. She was the loving wife for 28 years of Mr. Willis R. Abbott, Jr. of Walkersville. Born on July 6, 1946 in Wilkes Barre, PA she was the daughter of Christine M. Jones and the late Ezra T. Jones. Mrs. Abbott was well known for her unique youthful voice. She always sounded younger than what she was. She was a 1964 graduate of Bladensburg High School in Prince George's County. While she was in high school she worked her first job at Hecht's Department store, now known as Macy's. Upon graduation from high school she worked for The National Geographic Society for 33 years. She stopped working to enroll in Award Beauty School and earned her license in cosmetology. She returned to the work force working in customer service for GS Communications (now Comcast), AOPA and later L3 Communications at Fort Detrick up until the time of her passing. In her free time her hobbies included: shopping, gardening, listening to Toby Keith, yard saling, thrift shops and QVC. She loved the beach particularly Nags Head where she would vacation each summer. Most of all she was a loving mother and wife. Mrs. Abbott was the loving mother of Sherrie Lynn Myers and husband Gary of Brandywine MD. She is also survived by 2 sisters, 1 brother, their spouses, and many nieces and nephews. She always loved her dogs, Taffy who passed away 10 years ago and her current dog Daisy. Friends will be received on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 from 5:30 -8 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick and on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 from 10 AM until the service time at 11 AM. The interment will be private. The family encourages floral arrangements however contributions may be made in Mrs. Abbott's name to the Frederick County Humane Society, PO Box 3185, Frederick, MD 21705-3185.
