Mr. Russell Herbert "Steve" Oden, 82, of Frederick, died on Friday, June 7, 2013, at the Northampton Manor Health Care Center. He was the husband of June Stull Oden, they were married for 59 years. Born in Frederick on September 10, 1930, he was the son of the late Russell Horine and Blanche Taylor Oden. Steve was a graduate of Frederick High School Class of 1947 and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. For over 40 years he owned and operated Oden Brother's Plumbing and Heating, Inc. Together he and his wife loved to travel and had been in all 50 states and 22 foreign countries. He spent much time sitting on his front porch where he enjoyed reading, napping and waving at friends. At one time he was very active in youth baseball, both little leagues and also Frederick Babe Ruth. He was a member of the New Market United Methodist Church, where he served as lay leader for 28 years and was active on various church committees. He was also a member of the Francis Scott Key American Legion Post # 11 and the Last Korean War Veterans Club of Post # 11. He served on the Tulip Hill Community Association and was active in many ways. Surviving is his loving wife and his son, Steven C. Oden and wife Fran, of Gettysburg, PA. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Monday, June 10, 2013, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, in the New Market United Methodist Church, 5501 Old New Market Road. Pastor Scott Clawson, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the New Market United Methodist Church, P. O.
