Richard Conrad Fitzpatrick

Mr. Richard Conrad "Butch" "George" Fitzpatrick, 77, of Frederick, died on Friday, June 14th, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Rose Marie Cappello Fitzpatrick, who were married August 23, 1959. Born September 7, 1935, in Washington, DC, he was a son of the late John Raymond and Elizabeth Marie Kelly Fitzpatrick, Sr. Mr. Fitzpatrick was a 1953 graduate of Frederick High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Butch worked as a baker for many years with Cappello's Food Market and later Hamilton's Market. He was employed for 16 years with Safeway and later worked for many years at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Same-Day Surgery and the PACU. He was a member of Saint Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Frederick. He was also a former longtime member of Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church and served as Catholic Catechism Teacher and Eucharistic minister. In earlier years, he was a Girl Scout leader, coached Frederick Midget football and youth baseball. He also enjoyed decorating cakes for many years; and was a longtime member and volunteer with the Frederick Memorial Hospital auxiliary, volunteering over 10,000 hours. Besides his wife, he is survived by six children, Rose Marie Sincevich and husband, Mike, Regina Clark-Crone and husband, Donald, Karen Hillen and husband, David, Kathy Fitzpatrick, Richard Fitzpatrick and wife, Sue, Elizabeth McGee and husband, Branden; four siblings, John R. Fitzpatrick and wife, Ruth, of Fairfax, VA, Kelly Fitzpatrick and wife, Barb, of N.H., Edmund Fitzpatrick and wife Kathleen, of Millersville, Sue Coleman and husband, Howard, of Fredericksburg, VA; 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Leo and Vinnie; two sons-in-law, Tim and Eddie and his grand mom, Helen Mock. He is also remembered by special friends, Pat Quint, Heather Goldbolt. Linda Toms and Pam Collins. A special thank you is extended to Dr. Ashwal and Dr. Oh and their staff, as well as his "girls" at the Cancer Care Center of Frederick Memorial Hospital. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm on Monday, June 17 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Keith Boisvert, at 11am on Tuesday, June 18 from Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 118 East Second Street, Frederick. Interment will follow in Saint John's Cemetery, with a reception immediately after the burial at the Parish Center, 114 East Second Street. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in his name to St Katharine Drexel Church Building Fund, 8428 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702 or to Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
