Elmira B. (Jacobs) Cook, 99 of Frederick, passed from this life on Monday, July 1, 2013 at Citizens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the loving wife of 41 years to the late Mehrl C. Cook. Born on September 13, 1913, she was the eldest daughter of Chris B. and Goldie J. (Mayne) Jacobs. Elmira was a graduate of Frederick High School, class of 1930. She worked for more than 25 years as a secretary for Grove Lime Co. She was a dedicated volunteer, serving as a lifetime member of the Frederick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, a chartered lifetime member of Citizens Nursing Home Auxiliary, an associate member of the Montevue Auxiliary and member of the First Baptist Church. She is survived by one brother, Lee M. Jacobs of Frederick; three nieces, Carol Lee Bonner and husband Duke of Knoxville, Joann Yingling and husband Harvey of Frederick, Judith H. Pendleton and husband Larry of Silver Spring; one nephew Richard W. Jacobs and wife Mary Jane of Emmitsburg; many great nieces and nephews and her great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Jacobs and sister, Rebecca J. Hoyle. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am. The Rev. Burnis D. Barrett will officiate. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elmira B.
