Mildred Elizabeth Cheeks

Mrs. Mildred E. Cheeks, age 92 of Frederick went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Northhampton Manor, Frederick. She was the wife of the late Kermit H. Cheeks who passed away on August 29, 1989. Born on October 27, 1920 in Feagaville, Mrs. Cheeks was the daughter of the late John W. and Myrtle L. Ruthvin. Mrs. Cheeks and her husband began there lives together farming in Adamstown. She enjoyed sewing and gardening. She loved her flowers and could take the saddest looking flower and make it beautiful. She also worked at Woolworth's and the dry cleaners on 7th Street. Mrs. Cheeks was the mother of Gary W. Cheeks and wife Rose M. of Frederick, Fay E. Cheeks of Phoenix, AZ, and Mark D. Cheeks, III and fiancé Sue of Frederick, the grandmother of 7, the great-grandmother of 11, and the great-grandmother of 1. She is also survived by her brother Robert Ruthvin and wife Emily of Frederick. She will be greatly missed by her daughter in law, Sue Remsburg who cared for her during her life. Friends will be received on Thursday, July 11, 2013 from 6-8 PM at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick where services will be held on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 2:30 PM.
