Mrs. Betty Marie (Bartlett) Murray, 87, of Frederick, died Monday, July 15, 2013, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Louis D. Murray, Sr. Born on December 22, 1925, in Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Ada (Brubaker) Bartlett. Mrs. Murray worked 16 years at Price Electric and 22 years at Fairchild in Germantown, where she retired. She was a member of the V.F.W., and American Legion Aux., Brunswick, Samaritan Rebekah Lodge 51, and AMVETS L.A. in Frederick. Betty devoted her time volunteering at the VA Hospital in Martinsburg for several years. She enjoyed going out to dinner with her special friend, James Baker and she especially enjoyed loving her great-grandchildren who dearly adored her. She is survived by her children, Louis D. Murray, Jr., Donna M. Murray, Cindy K. Fowler and Gary W. Murray, grandchildren, Louis Murray III, Michelle Hampton and husband AJ, Dana Zimmerman, John Fowler Jr., and wife Julie and Noah Fowler and wife Tonia, 16 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 8 siblings. The family will receive friends from 4pm to 7pm, on Sunday, July 21, 2013, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Monday, July 22, 2013, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel at the funeral home. Rev. Katrina Holland will officiate. Interment will follow at Jefferson Reformed United Church of Christ Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans (Washington & Lee), 702 East South Street, Frederick, MD 21701 or a charity of one's choice.
