P. Jean Davis, of Frederick, died July 22, 2013 at Homewood at Crumland Farms after a long struggle with pulmonary fibrosis. Jean was born in December 12, 1923 in Birmingham, England to parents Richard Henry Adams and Lillian Doris Adams. She was the war bride and widow of Edgar Lewis Davis. In 1946, she and Edgar were married in the remains of a bombed out church in England, and were together until Edgar's death in 1990. During the War, Jean served in the British Army as a convoy driver moving vehicles needed for D-Day and other expeditions to the appropriate embarkation sites throughout Britain. After discharge, she joined Edgar in Hampton, Virginia where they had three children. She and her family later lived in Alexandria, Virginia, Orleans, France, and Frederick, where they moved in 1961. For 37 years, Jean was employed at the C. Burr Artz library where she held many positions. After retirement from the public library, she was asked to organize and run a library at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Center, which she did for twelve years, creating the Etchison-Davis Library. Books and visual art were her passions. Also music - She sang in choirs wherever she happened to be. Jean was a member of the Frederick Art Club, the British Brides Club, and the Monday Morning Book Club at the Frederick Historical Society. She is survived by daughter Heather Jean Sutton of Frederick; daughter Pamela Elizabeth Zoeller and her children Molly Jean and Guy Edgar of Culmstock, England; and by son Christopher Richard Davis and his wife Marguerite of Falls Church, Virginia. The family will receive friends on Thursday July 25th from 5-7pm at Keeney Basford Funeral home, 106 E. Church Street Frederick. Funeral services will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, 106 W. Church Street, Frederick, on Friday, July 26th at 11:00AM. Rev. W. Earl Mullins will officiate. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
