Mr. Charles Kevin Tama, 59, of Frederick, died peacefully at home with family after a brief illness on July 25. He was the husband of Rebecca Jane Tama for over 40 years. Born on October 18, 1953 in Uniontown, PA, he was the son of the late Josef and Mary (Hunt) Tama. Charles was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Mr. and Mrs. Tama were married on February 2, 1973. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in the same year, where he continued to re-enlist until his retirement in 1993. Mr. Tama graduated from Christopher Newport College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1980 and was commissioned as a second lieutenant. He received his MBA from the University of Missouri in 1986. Upon his retirement, he was employed as a contracting officer with FEMA in Emmitsburg. Charles was a wonderful man who touched many with his kindness and gentle heart In addition to his wife, he is survived by brothers Lawrence Tama of Blossburg, PA, Joseph Tama of Arlington, VA, Norbert Tama of Uniontown, PA and Michael Tama of Portland, OR and sisters Carol Tama of Portland, OR, Marianne Dunn of Dover, DE and Cathy Tama-Troutman of Mechanicsburg, PA. Additionally, he is survived by nieces Brea Dunn of Seattle, WA, Elizabeth Arcentales of Fairlawn, NJ and Tama Troutman of Mechanicsburg, PA. He will also be missed by his golden retrievers Mackenzie and Cassidy. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 29 from 7-9 PM at Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, July 30 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 118 East Second Street, Frederick. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
