Mr. Robert F. Oxendale, 64, of Thurmont, passed away at home on Thursday, July 25, 2013. He was the devoted husband of Diane E. Hahn Oxendale. Born July 29, 1948, in Coaldale, PA, he was a son of the late Robert Francis and Marion Llewellyn Oxendale, Sr. Bob attended Allentown Business College and graduated with a degree in accounting. He served our country in the United States Army as a military policeman with the 285th MP Company and was stationed at West Point and in Germany. He was a life member of the Guardian Hose Company #10, Thurmont, where he served as secretary for many years and the Thurmont Ambulance Company #30. He was also a volunteer with the Frederick County Fire Police. He was also a faithful member of the Graceham Moravian Church, where he had served as sacristan in past years. Bob loved his work with Frederick Memorial Hospital Emergency Department, where "ER Bob" had worked for the past 12 years. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Colleen Ford; three grandchildren, Brendon Ford, Lachlan Ford and Emma Ford, all of Thurmont. He was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Leinbach. A Celebration of Life service will be at 2pm on Sunday, August 25 at the Graceham Moravian Church, 8231 Rocky Ridge Road, Thurmont and at Bob's request everyone is also invited to a party which will be held from 7 to 9pm on Saturday, August 31 at the Thurmont Activities Building. Interment will be private.
