Betty C. Liszka, 75, of Rockville, passed away on Tuesday, August 13. Born on November 3, 1937 in Carnegie, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late James F. Carr and Claire Harney Carr. Betty dedicated her life to her family, whom she cherished, and to making a difference for the youth in her community. She worked for Montgomery County Public Schools for over 40 years, most of them at Rockville High School, where she was able to touch so many lives. Her commitment to the community continued into her final year. She is survived by her children Karen M. Balsley and David, John J. Liszka, Jr., Barbara M. Pulliam and Robert and Mary E. Liszka and Douglas Barlow, grand-children Megan Dion and David, Jacklyn Liszka-Inman, Ryann Johnson and Shawn, Nicolle Harris and Douglas, Amanda Balsley, Christopher DeForce, Jr., Brittany Harmon and fiance Matthew Moorehead, John Kelly, Kristie Liszka and Andrew Barlow, Great-grandchildren Michael, William, Marisah, Landyn, Brendan and Kerrigan as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by brother James F. Carr, Jr. (Diana); Kathleen Kerchansky (Ted) and Patrice J. Michel (Dick) as well as her former husband Jack Liszka. She was preceded in death by a sister, Maureen King The family will receive friends on Friday, August 16 from 6-9 PM at Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 17 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 520 Veirs Mill Road, Rockville 20852. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to The Children's Inn at NIH, 7 West Drive, Bethesda, Maryland 20814.
