Bernard Thomas O'Bryan

Bernard Thomas "Bernie" O'Bryan. 85, of Frederick, died on Friday, August 23, 2013, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Velma June Babington O'Bryan, who died in 1995. Born in Frederick, on June 5, 1928, he was a son of the late Samuel and Bernice Umberger O'Bryan. Bernie for many years had worked at Ideal Farms, as a manager for the Acme store and retired as a clerk for Safeway, and for several years he worked for the Frederick County Transit Department. He was a member of the Chapel Lutheran Church on Daysville Road, the Frederick Moose Lodge and the Elks Lodge. He was an avid bowler, loved to pitch horseshoes and had also coached for Women's Slow Pitch Softball. Surviving him are his four children; Gary W. O'Bryan, of Hagerstown, Debbie A. Warner and husband Claude and Vicki L. Hubbard and husband David, all of Walkersville, and Kathi S. Ebied and husband Mohamed, of Hagerstown, one sister, Alice M. Cromwell, of Yellow Springs, and nine grandchildren, Corie O'Bryan and wife Amber, Cassidy O'Bryan, Gregory Warner, Stacey Warner, Travis Hubbard, Derek Hubbard, Troy Hubbard and wife Lauren, Shyra Gray and Chasity Gray, and several nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by special friends, Pauline Baker and Cricket Dorsey. He was preceded in death by a sister, Albenia "Libby" Woods Brashears. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., on Monday, August 26, 2013, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, from the Chapel Lutheran Church , Daysville Road. The Rev. Christopher Litton, pastor of the church, will officiate. Interment will be in the Chapel Lutheran Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Chapel Lutheran Church, 11109 Daysville Road, Frederick, MD 21701 or to Hospice of Frederick County, P. O.
