John Leonard Johnson

July 23, 1930 — September 5, 2013

Mr. John Leonard Johnson, 83, of Clarksburg, died on September 5, 2013 at Montgomery Hospice Casey House, Rockville. He was the husband of Mabel E. (Reaver) Johnson. Born on July 23, 1930 in St. Mary's County, Maryland, he was the son of the late John Norman and Queenie May (Bowles) Johnson. Mr. Johnson was an estimator for an interior design company. He was lifetime member of the Hyattstown Fire Department and was a member of St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church for a number of years. John enjoyed helping others and had a great love for children. He will be missed by his pet cat, "Mama". In addition to his wife, John is survived by brothers Charles Johnson and his wife Eleanor, Albert Johnson and his wife Juanita, Bobby Johnson and Francis Johnson and his wife Bernadine as well as sister-in-law Mary Ann Johnson. He also leaves behind a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his brothers Joseph Johnson and Alison Johnson. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 8 from 2-4 PM at Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at on Monday, September 9 at 11:00 AM at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 4103 Prices Distillery Road, Ijamsville, Maryland 21754. Father Michael Jendrek will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. Serving as pallbearers will be George Reaver, Randy Ripley, Adam Haba, Kenny Johnson, Donnie Johnson and Walter Johnson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Ignatius Catholic Church, at the address listed above.
