Dorothy Alice Smith, 74, of Frederick, died on September 11, 2013 at Northampton Manor Nursing Home. "Dottie" was born in Frederick and lived in the area her entire life. Born on December 12, 1938, she was the daughter of Austin Devilbiss and Grace Stine Devilbiss. Dorothy was previously married to the late Sonny David Smith, of Frederick. Ms. Smith worked for numerous local employers, including BioWhittaker, Record Street Home and Hechingers. She was an active member of the New Market Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of the Independent Hose Company Ladies Auxiliary as well as holding membership in the Frederick Auxiliary and Moose Lodge #371, Frederick. She enjoyed being a member of these exceptional organizations and taking trips to Ocean City for the Firemen's Convention. Dottie loved the Great Frederick Fair for all the excitement and entertainment it brought to Frederick. Ms. Smith also found joy in talking to her friends. Dorothy is survived by her three sons, Keith Smith and wife Lynn of Ocean Pines, Brian Smith and wife Gretchen of Thurmont, Ronnie Smith of Frederick as well as her daughter, Lecia Young and husband Darryl of Brunswick. She is also survived by her grandchildren Derek and his wife Jessica, Darin, Christopher, Daniel, Samantha and MacKenzie as well as 2 great-grandchildren Ayden and Selina. Dottie also leaves behind two sisters, her twin, Doris Grimm and husband Fred and Linda Faber and friend Mark Wilhide. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff of Northampton Manor as well as Frederick Memorial Hospital for the excellent care they provided. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 15 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 16 at 11:00 AM in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home, Pastor Tim May officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
