Mr. Merrill "Snooky" J. Wahl, age 74 of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2013 at his residence. He was the husband of Nancy Noffsinger Jenkins Wahl. Born on December 5, 1938 in Washington DC, he was the son of the late William and Nellie Wahl. Mr. Wahl was the father of Deborah Brady and husband Bob and Mary Beth Polczynski and husband Tom, the stepfather of Deborah Athey and husband John and Timothy Jenkins and wife Lisbet, the grandfather of Alex Rider and wife Sarah, Thomas Rider, Kerianne Rider, Steven Rutherford and Meigs Rutherford, the step grandfather of Allison Athey, Haley Athey, Aubrey Athey, Joshua Jenkins and wife Trissa and Matthew Jenkins, the great-grandfather of Sean Rider and the stepgreatgrandfather of Lina and Joshua II Jenkins. He is also survived by his brother George Wahl and his wife Ellen. Mr. Wahl is preceded in death by his siblings, William Wahl, Katherine Coale, Mary Hudson and Elizabeth King. Friends will be received on Friday, September 20, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick where services will be held in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 10 AM. Pastor Brian Hotaling will officiate. The interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
