Henry Rawlings Tribble Jr.

December 3, 1926 — September 21, 2013

Henry Rawlings Tribble, Jr., died at age 86 on September 21. Born in Plant City, Florida, the only child of Henry Rawlings Tribble, Sr. and Helen Futch Tribble. Bud always carried Florida in his heart and as a young man was surrounded by an extended family of cousins, all of whom would religiously gather at biannual family reunions to share family lore, tales of unknown veracity, and inside jokes that were repeated to each generation. His children and their families will long retell his stories of alarm clocks at assemblies, white shotguns, lake water in the gas tank, and painted cars at the University of Florida. After 2 years in the Army during World War II, college, and a stint as a health inspector, his career turned to microbiological research first in Utah, then Ft. Detrick, Maryland, and finally Aberdeen Proving Grounds. He went to Saigon, Vietnam with AID during the war. He met and married Lois Whitmore, a fellow Floridian and the love of his life for 59 years. Together they set down permanent roots in Frederick, MD in 1960 and raised a boisterous family of 4 boys and a girl. Bud was the quiet cornerstone of his family. He and Lois always had an open door and a place at the table for anyone who needed them, whether it was a mother, a mother-in-law, a family member or a friend in transition.Bud never let a friend or acquaintance walk out his door without hearing, "You be good now". He dearly missed his wife, who predeceased him in January. He would have followed the girl in the red panties' to the ends of the earth if she asked, though he would have rather have stayed home with her 24/7. Bud was lovingly cared for in the months since her passing by his daughter Lisa, and her husband James of Frederick and their children, Thomas and Laura. He is also survived by his four sons: Timothy, Leslie, James, and David, and their children Jessica, Daniel, Elizabeth, Matthew, Grant, Parker, Aidan, and Connor. He saved a special place in his heart for his daughters-in-law and son-in-law and welcomed them warmly into his family. His family will be forever appreciative of the depth of his concern, deep commitment and the sacrifices he made for his family. A service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday October 12, 2013 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 106 W. Church St., Frederick, Maryland. Bud and Lois will be buried together in Deland, Florida on a date to be announced. Online condolences may be shared at www.keeneybasford.com
