John Lee Ganey, Jr. (Big John) of Frederick, MD died suddenly on Tuesday, October 15, 2013. He was born on March 28, 1932 in Washington DC. He was widowed in 2000 from his wife of 49 years, Ruth (Brashear) Ganey. Mr. Ganey served his country in the Korean Conflict with the 72nd Engr. Combat Co., during which time he was wounded and received 2 bronze stars. Upon returning home to his wife he became a father and began a career as a truck driver. He will be remembered by his family and many friends at Lafarge. All services were private. His earthly remains have been placed at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Monrovia, MD.
