Marietta Schmitt Mullen

Marietta Schmitt Mullen, 66, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Georgetown University Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was the devoted wife of 45 years to Francis Joseph Mullen Sr. Born August 23, 1947 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Helen (Stapleton) and Paul J. Schmitt. She was a graduate of Frostburg University with a Bachelors of Science in Business Management and a Masters Degree in Business Administration. She worked as the evening administrator at Georgetown University Hospital for about 20 years. She was the Volunteer Coordinator for United Healthcare Hospice of Columbia, Maryland. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Joseph Mullen, wife Brandi and Andrew Mullen; one daughter, Nancy Sohm and husband William; two brothers, Lee and Paul Schmitt; two sisters Nancy Farkas and Barbie Schmitt and five grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 11:30-12:30 pm on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. Following the visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 pm at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Saint John's Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Marietta's honor can be made to Hospice of Frederick County, PO Box 1799, Frederick, Maryland 21702.
