Mrs. Eleanor Mae (Atherholt) Bromfield, 88, of Frederick, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, November 8, 2013, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Dr. Kenneth R. Bromfield. Born on June 8, 1925, in Old Forge, PA, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Eleanor (Lutz) Atherholt. Mrs. Bromfield was a General Manager at Routzahn's on the Square Corner for many years. She was a member of the FMH Auxiliary, Frederick ZONTA and a long time member of the Frederick Presbyterian Church. More than anything else, she enjoyed spending time with her children and their families. She is survived by children, Linda L. Bromfield and husband Jack Ottinger, Kenneth G. Bromfield and wife Christine, Raymond A. Bromfield and wife Laura, Roy E. Bromfield and wife Anita and Ellen L. Bromfield, sisters, Mildred Davis and Nancy Kachurak and husband Dave, 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9pm, on Monday, November 11, 2013, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at the Frederick Presbyterian Church, 115 W. 2nd Street, Frederick, MD 21701. The Rev. Dr. Eric T. Myers will officiate. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Frederick Presbyterian Church (Youth Ministry), 115 W. 2nd Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
