Helen Katharine Hodges Conte, 81, died on Nov. 14, 2013 at Citizens Care Center, Frederick, Md. She was born Aug. 28, 1932, in Frederick, Md, the daughter of Elmer E. Hodges and Katharine Herwig Hodges. Helen was the wife of the late Frank C. Conte, who she married May 28, 1966. Helen grew up on El-Kay Angus Farm in McKaig, Md, graduating from Frederick High School in 1950 in the first 12 year class to graduate. Helen belonged to the first CAP Squadron at the Frederick Municiple Airport in 1949. After graduating from Mary Washington College in1954, she then worked in Richmond, VA at the Virginia State Agriculture Lab, as a chemist until retirement. After retirement, Helen moved back to the home farm on Gas House Pike. Helen is survived by her brother, George H. Hodges, Sr. and wife Sally Rosser Hodges, and beloved nephew, George H. Hodges, Jr. and wife Veronica Hodges and her daughter, Taylor Nicole Holmes all of whom had brought so much love and caring to their Aunt Helen. Helen will also be remembered by her niece, Morganne Holmes and nephew, Steven Robinson. Helen was active in her home church willing to serve in so many ways. The family will receive friends at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, Md, on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013 from 1:00PM to 5:00PM. Funeral services will begin at 10am, on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home. Rev. Barbara Kershner Daniel will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
