Donald Joseph Wolf

Donald Joseph Wolf, Ph.D.., PE, 88, of Crestwood Village in Frederick, died on Sunday, December 1, 2013, at the Kline Hospice House after a lengthy illness. He was the loving husband of Betty Irene Stull Wolf. They were married on May 26, 1950. He was born in Waynesboro, PA, on February 28, 1925 and was a son of the late Joseph H. and Olive Kepner Wolf. He was a graduate of Frederick High School Class of 1943 and served as the class vice-president. In 1943 he proudly served his country during WW II having served in the 116th Engineer Company Greenland Base Command. Donald received his BS degree from North Carolina State University and his master's and Ph.D. from Lasalle University. He worked many years as an Industrial Engineer Consultant for several furniture businesses in Maryland and Pennsylvania. Later he had his own consulting company located in Frederick known as Wood Arts Inc. He was a member of National Society of Professional Engineers, Maryland Society of Professional Engineers, Order of Engineers, American Institute of Industrial Engineers, and Institute Plant Engineers. In his early years he was active in the Boy Scouts of America and served as a scout master and was also a past president of the Jaycees. He had a great love for genealogy. He was a member of the American Poultry Association, American Bantam Association and at one time had chickens that became national champions. He was also a member of the Gordon Setter Club of America. Donald was a member of the Frederick County Historical Society and the Maryland Historical Society. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Hagerstown and former member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church, Thurmont. He was a member of the VFW, Elks Lodge, Francis Scott Key American Legion Post 11, all in Frederick. Donald was past president and historian for the Sons of the American Revolution. Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, D. Joseph Wolf and wife Thelma, of Hagerstown, MD, Robert L. Wolf and wife Roxanne, of Saylorsburg, PA, David W. Wolf and wife Kellie, all of Hagerstown, MD, and six grandchildren, Jason, Erin, Samantha, Rachel Schaeffer and husband Bradley, Zachary, Alejandra Heishman and husband Jaime, two great grandchildren, Jacob and Mason Heishman, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Darrell Wolf. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m., on Thursday, December 5, 2013, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, December 6, 2013, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. Fred Shillings and Rev. David Orvaec, will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Kline Hospice House at Hospice of Frederick County, P. O.
