George William Shores, 73 of Frederick County, Maryland, passed away on Friday, December 06, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Peggy Lynn (Snyder) Shores, whom he married in 1967 and predeceased him in 2005. Born January 6, 1940, he was the youngest of eight children to the late Carl David and Agnes Catherine (Price) Shores. George served in the United States Navy from 1957-1960 and in the United States Naval Reserves from 1960-1963. George is survived by his daughter Melissa Dawn Shaw and grandsons, E. Allen "Skeeter" Summers Jr. and special angel Tyler Joseph "Joe" Shaw; son Billy Shores; five grandchildren Billy Jr., Damian, Ciggi, Bliss and Connie; seven great grandchildren; sister, Rosie Mae Burrier; brother, Carl Henry Shores and wife Nancy; Mark Shaw, whom he loved like a son, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife, parents and beloved grandson, George was preceded in death by five siblings, Anna Frances Welty, Violet Marie Baugher, Catherine Gertrude Mayne, Bernard David Shores and Bertha Louise McKenzie. The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, Maryland. The funeral service will begin at 11AM. The Reverend Tim May will officiate. Inurnment will be private. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Carroll County.
