Mrs. Ruby A. (Blank) Harmon also known as Mammaw age 78 of Frederick, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born on March 1, 1935 in Frederick, she was the wife of the late James R. Harmon, Sr. and the daughter of the late Ezra, Sr. and Evelyn (Cole) Blank. Mrs. Harmon was a graduate of Frederick High School in the class of 1953. She was a longtime member of the Calvary Baptist Church formerly in Mt. Airy. She enjoyed playing Bingo, doing word search puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Harmon was the mother of Sandra Satryano and husband Sam of Smithsburg, Susan Sier and husband Allen of Buckeystown, Randy Harmon of Urbana, and Tammy Harmon and life long friend Richard Sier of Frederick; the Mammaw of Dee, Brian and wife Meghan, Michele and husband Sean, Branden, Todd and fiancé Brittany, Eliza and Rachel; the Great-Mammaw of Darla, Noah, Tyler, Benny, Addie, and Makenna. She is also survived by her siblings Blaine Blank and wife Odetta of Union Bridge, Tommy Blank and wife Sue of Buckeystown, Gladys Wilkinson and husband Al of Texas, Mary Teaque and husband Michael of Thurmont, and James Blank of Frederick, her aunt Reba Astlin of Frederick, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be remembered by her special friend Shirley Rice of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Harmon is preceded in death by her son James R. Harmon, Jr. and her brothers Ezra Blank, Jr., (twin brother) Ruben Blank and Donald Blank. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 6-8 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, MD 21701 where services will be held in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home on Monday, January 13, 2014 at 1 PM. Pastor Tommy Parris will officiate. The interment will follow at the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the funeral home at the above address.
