Mrs. Joan Elaine Adams, 76, of Frederick, died on Thursday, January 16, 2014, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late John Quincy Adams, Jr., who died on May 10, 2007. Joan was born in Camden, New Jersey on September 24, 1937. She was retired after over 26 years with the Frederick County Public Schools as a bus driver. She was an active member of the Edgewood Church of God, enjoyed duckpin bowling and loved to crochet and made and donated many infant caps to the Frederick Memorial Hospital. Surviving are her children, John Q. Adams III and wife Toni, of Frederick, Kevin Lee Adams and wife Lori, of Middletown, and Donna Jean Adkins and husband Robert, of Frederick, one sister, Rosemary Stitely and husband Bill, of Frederick, six grandchildren, Robert L. Adkins, Jr., Megan Adkins, Brandie Sutherlin, Adrianne Adams, Jake Adams and Drew Adams, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Lou Main. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m., on Monday, January 20, 2014, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at the Edgewood Church of God, 8204 Edgewood Church Road. Rev. Joseph Burdette, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Rocky Springs Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Edgewood Church of God, 8204 Edgewood Church Road, Frederick, MD 21702.
