Mr. William H. "Bill" Wiles, 88, of Middletown, passed into eternal rest on Thursday, January 23, 2014, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the loving husband of Janet "Jan" Williams Wiles. They were married on September 7, 1947, and just celebrated 66 years. Life long resident of Frederick County, he was born October 5, 1925, the only son of the late Harry D. and Savada Shuff Wiles. Bill was a graduate of Frederick High School Class of 1944, after which he enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country during WWII. He spent most of his life in sales, with over 23 years with the Frederick Trading Company and Thomas Somerville Company for over 11 years. Always active in sports, playing football and baseball, his passion was football. He played for the Seneca's the forerunner of the return of football at Frederick High. After his Navy service he then played on the VFW Football team, until it disbanded. He always kept in touch by staying on the committees for "The Old Timers" and enjoyed their reunions. His favorite pro team was always the Green Bay packers, win or lose, he gathered quite a collection of memorabilia for his team, so he could display the green and gold. Bill was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, Frederick, and he was a honorary life member of the Francis Scott Key American Legion Post # 11, the AARP # 636 Frederick, and a former member of the Frederick Elks Lodge. Bill was an avid golfer . Surviving in addition to his wife is one daughter, Linda W. "Lin" Liston, of Frederick, two grandsons, Scott A. Liston and wife Dena, of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia and Michael W. Liston, of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia and his fiancee, Amanda Harrison, of Herndon, Virginia, and two great grandchildren, Grace Liberty Liston and Jackson Scott Liston. He will also be remembered by several cousins and many friends he made over the years. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m., on Sunday, January 26, 2014, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, January 27, 2014, in the Etchison Memorial chapel of the funeral Home. The Rev. Kenneth Humbert, will officiate. Private interment will be at a later date in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Hospice of Frederick County, P. O.
