*****The funeral service for Mrs. Bell has been rescheduled due to weather***** The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday 2/4 at the funeral home. Mrs. Gladys Martz Bell, 97 of Frederick, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at her home. She was the wife of the late Charles H. Bell who passed away in 1966. Born August 23, 1916 in New Midway, Maryland she was the daughter of the late Keifer H. and Lula Bostin Martz of Keymar, Maryland. Mrs. Bell and her late husband were long time members of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick. She was a graduate of Walkersville High School class of 1933 and attended Hagerstown Business College. Mrs. Bell was employed at Fairchild in Hagerstown from 1940-1949 and retired after 20 years at East Frederick Elementry School where she worked as a secretary. After retirement, Mrs. Bell volunteered at Frederick Memorial Hospital for 17 years. She was an avid bowler and took great pride in her garden. She also participated in travel clubs and was a member of rainbow belles. Mrs. Bell is survived by her son, Wayne Martz Bell and her daughter Robyn Elaine Cox; granddaughter Ashley Christine Cox; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Russell Martz. The family will receive friends from 1-3pm on Sunday, February 3, 2014 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. The funeral service will be at 11am on Monday at the funeral home. Reverend Terri Driver-Bishop will officiate. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association 108 Byte Drive, Suite 103, Frederick, MD 21702 or the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 35 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
