Elizabeth "Betty" Dreyhaupt

Elizabeth "Betty" Dreyhaupt, 99, of Rosemont, MD, died peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2014 at Edenton Retirement Community. Betty was born in New York City on July 2, 1914, to the late Edward and Maude Walsh Smith. She grew up in Queens, NY, where she met and married the late Joseph Dreyhaupt, her husband of 63 years. They made their home on Long Island, where Betty enjoyed decorating, shopping and entertaining. Joe and Betty moved to Rosemont in 1982. Betty is survived by her daughter, Robin Dreyhaupt-Scarff and son-in-law, John "Sonny" Scarff. She was preceded in death by her three siblings and a daughter, Dolores Burt. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Fred Burt, Jr, of NY and eight grandchildren, Martin Silovich of Hampstead, MD, Joseph Silovich of Frederick, MD, Elizabeth Kline of Middletown, MD, Cheryl Hujik, of FL, Fred Burt III , Barrie Breck and Mary Kate Childress of NC and Joanne Hase of BelAir, MD. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Elizabeth's family wishes to express gratitude to the staff of Blossom House at Edenton for their efforts on behalf of our mother and grandmother, for the constant effort to make her smile, cups of tea, hugs and extra ice cream. There will be no visitation or services. Interment will be private.
