Mr. Carl Frederick Ruff Jr. passed away at his home after a long illness on February 9, 2014 at the age of 69. He was the husband of Rose Ann Ruff. Born October 26, 1944 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Carl Frederick Ruff Sr. and Massalina Ruff (Wortley). Mr. Ruff served in the U.S. Air Force from 1963-1967. After the service he worked as a bus driver for Greyhound in Washington D.C. He later worked as a meat cutter for Giant Food in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Mr. Ruff loved the outdoors. Walking the canal paths and railroad tracks was very important to him. He loved all animals, especially dogs and loved to tell tall stories. He loved life and was very special in many ways. Surviving besides his wife are daughter Melissa Lynn Bartholomew of Florida; two step-daughters Shelley Lynn Angell of Florida and Connie Sue Boyer of Frederick; two grandchildren, Faith Carla Ann Ruff and Mason Corwin Bartholomew; four step grandchildren, Deserae Nicole Lanich, Stephanie Jo Stitley, Kara Mariah Weller and Brittany Lynn Weller (deceased); and many special friends. A memorial service will be held at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, Maryland on February 16, 2014 at 1 pm. He will be laid to rest at Gate of Heaven in Silver Spring, Maryland at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, Kline Hospice House, P.O.
