Mrs. Mary Plummer Strailman, 87, of Adamstown and more recently a resident of the Sunrise Assisted Living of Frederick, died on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Robert F. Strailman, who died on January 7, 2011. Born in Adamstown on September 20, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Roger Grafton and Susan Roelke Plummer. Mrs. Strailman graduated from Frederick High School in 1943 and after high school she worked for Lily Pons in Adamstown. She then worked for the Potomac and Edison Company for several years, until she started her career with the Government first working in the comptroller's office at Fort Detrick and then retired from NIH. She was an active member of the Adamstown United Church of Christ (known as the Adamstown Community Church) where she served the church as church organist and various other capacities. She and her husband both were very active with the Carroll Manor Fire Company and the Mason's. Mary was a member of NARFE and the Frederick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling and playing tennis. Surviving her are several cousins, including, Doris Beck and Ray Taschenberger. She will be missed by many friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, February 17, 2014, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Friends will be received one hour prior to services. Rev. Nelson Pittinger, will officiate. Private interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
