Mr. R. Rogers Nicklas, 82, long time resident of Buckeystown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 15, 2014, at his home. He was the loving husband of the late Mabel "Jitter" May Nicklas, who died in October 2011. They were married on January 14, 1956. Born on October 8, 1931 in Maryland he was a son of the late Oliver R. and Rosa Rogers Nicklas. He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army. After the war and when he came home in 1955 he started his own business known as R. Rogers Nicklas Contractors. This gave him the opportunity to provide services and help many people with their projects. He was always available in an emergency and willing to help his valued customers and friends in need. Rogers was an honorary member of the Carroll Manor Fire Company. He was a member of the Maryland Hunt Club and always enjoyed traveling to the cabin in West Virginia to hunt, relax and work. He had a great love for his family and enjoyed spending time with them all. He also loved going to breakfast at Masser's Restaurant in Frederick, where he constantly joked with all the waitresses. Surviving are his children, Randy R. Nicklas and wife Julie, of Buckeystown and Tina N. Murray and husband John, of Frederick, grandchildren, Amy Murray Entwistle and husband Jeff, Jami Murray Kint and husband Ryan, Randy R. Nicklas II and Tyler R.
