Mrs. Geraldine "Gerry" Droneburg, age 82 of Frederick passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Northampton Manor. She was the loving wife of the late Gene J. Droneburg who passed away on October 15, 2013. Born on January 11, 1932 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Grayson and Mary Phelps. Mrs. Droneburg was a graduate of St. John's Catholic School. She worked many years for C&P Telephone Company as a telephone operator. She later worked as a Pharmacy Tech at the Medicine Shop and later at Weis Market on Prospect Blvd. She was a life long member at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of America. She was a member of POOF (Past Operators of Frederick) and the Frederick American Legion FSK Post 0011. In her free time she enjoyed bowling as well as trips to Atlantic City and Charles Town. She was always supportive of her children's many activities. She was the amazing and loving mother of: Wanda J. Waterman and husband Donald, Sr. of Frederick, Linda J. Droneburg of Frederick, and Mark E. Droneburg and wife Sara of Hagerstown; the grandmother of Ashley6 M. Droneburg and Alissa R. Young; the step grandmother of Jennifer Hildebrand and Donald Waterman, Jr. and the step great-grandmother of Katy Schildtknecht. She is also survived by two sisters Pat Cramer and Nancy Talley. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her granddaughter Angel H. Droneburg and her siblings Doris Stone and Richard Phelps. Friends will be received on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 6-8 PM at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. A funeral service will held at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 118 E. 2nd St., Frederick on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 10 AM. The burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. Droneburg's name to St. John's Catholic Church, 112 E. 2nd St., Frederick, MD 21701 or to the American Cancer Society, 1393 Progress Way, Suite 908, Eldersburg, MD 21784.
