Mrs. Margaret Mae Lewis Bowers, 92, of Frederick, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2014, at the Golden Living Center in Frederick. She was the loving wife of the late E. Eugene Bowers, Jr., who died on June 15, 2009. Born on November 15, 1921 near Sharpsburg in Washington County, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Lola Butts Lewis. Mrs. Bowers had worked in the Avation Division of Fairchild in Hagerstown building cargo planes during WW II. She had also worked for 15 years at the Fredericktowne Mall at Eyerly's and Bon-Ton. She was a member since 1947 of the Auxiliary of the Steadman-Keenan American Legion Post # 96, Brunswick, and a former member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, Brunswick. She had been an active member of the Brookhill United Methodist Church, in Yellow Springs. In earlier years she was a member of the Inner Wheel Club of the Rotary Club. Surviving her are two children, Cheryl Ann "Sherry" Stull, of Frederick and Gary Eugene Bowers and wife Linda, of Sun City Center, FL, two grandchildren, Wayne E. "Wes" Stull and Jaime Bowers and husband Jason Freedman, also surviving are the following nieces and nephews, Fred Howsare and Betty, John Howsare and Jackie, Peggy Young and Paul, Robert Howsare and Joyce, Richard Howsare and Faun, Gary Howsare, Thomas Howsare, Cary Jean Stultz and Jeff, Mary Jane Nee, James Howsare and Vicki, and Sharon Delaney and Page. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, H. Wayne Stull, brother, Albert Leon Lewis, sister, Evelyn L. Howsare, niece, Ruth Ann Kairath and nephew, Harry Howsare. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, February 27, 2014, from the Brookhill United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dr. Kenneth Walker and Rev. Dana Werts, pastors of the church, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. Pallbearers will be; Wes Stull, Jaime Bowers, Jason Freedman, Jeff Stull, Nick Stevens and David Douglas.
