Mrs. Catherine Marie "Toots" Crummitt, 82, of Frederick, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2014, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Dewey S. Crummitt, Jr. Born in Ijamsville on September 2, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Elmer T. Fitze, Sr., and Bertha Roberts Fitze Metz. Mrs. Crummitt had worked for several years at Sangers and retired in 1980 from Air-Pax both in Frederick. She was a member of the Mount Carmel United Methodist Church , enjoyed country music and crocheting. Catherine left behind many friends and family members whose lives she enriched, inspired and encouraged, and she will be missed dearly. Surviving are her six children, Joanne M. Drury and husband Robert F., Esther L. Crummitt, Peggy J. Drury, Mary C. Poling and husband Mark, Dewey S. Crummitt III and David B. Crummitt, all of Frederick, six grandchildren, Crystal Crummitt, Bryan Drury, Tabitha Lucas, Dewey Drury, Stephanie Crummitt and Katie Romero. She was also the proud great grandmother of her 10 great grandchildren. She will also be remembered by her siblings, Clara Crummitt, Virginia Brown, Alvin Fitze, Donald Fitze, Shirley Dascher and Linda Blake and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a sisters-in-law, Sally Baker and husband Edward and Karol Crummitt, brother-in-law, Robert Crummitt. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer T. Fitze, Jr. and Michael Fitze. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. Jennifer K. Smith, pastor of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. Pallbearers will be; Robert Drury, Mark Poling, Irving Crummitt, Jr., Bryan Drury, Dewey Drury, Chris Stephens and Michael Romero. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 9411 Baltimore Road, Frederick, MD 21704.
