Mr. Edward "Jimbo" Knight, Jr., 76, of Frederick, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, March 1, 2014, in the company of his daughter after a long struggle with general health problems. He was preceded in death by the only woman he ever loved, Betty. Born May 27, 1937, in Layhill, MD, he was the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Burriss) Knight, Sr. A strong man and a good provider, he spent 60 of his 76 years working for and with J.T. Patton and Sons, often working sunup to sundown providing for his wife and four children. He was a long standing member of the Hyattstown Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Frederick Eagles Aerie 1067. He is survived by his children, Sharon Lynn Knight of Frederick, David Lee Knight of Rockville, Robert Edward Knight of Hagerstown and Dale Henry Knight and wife Jackie of Hagerstown, 5 brothers, 2 sisters, 19 grandchildren, 23 of 24 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 10 of his siblings. The family will receive friends from 11am to 12:30pm, on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, MD 21701. The funeral service will immediately follow at 12:30PM, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel, at the funeral home. Pastor Vernon King will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
