Mrs. Margaret LaRue Shoemaker, 95, of Frederick, died Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Kline Hospice House. She was the wife of Paul G. Shoemaker, who died in 1990. They were married 54 years. She was born in Frederick in 1918, a daughter of the late Martin L. and Lillie Mayne Kline. She was the last of her immediate family Since 1966 she was a member of Centennial Memorial United Methodist Church, formerly United Brethren, and was a graduate of Frederick High School, Class of 1935. She enjoyed bird watching, crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. She is survived by her children, Karen LaRue James and husband Charles Alan of Frederick; Paul Martin Shoemaker and wife Kim of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; and Charles Aaron Shoemaker of Frederick; seven grandchildren, Margaret Leyden and husband James of Dingman's Ferry, Pa., Joanne Nobile of Fairfax, Va., Joseph Paul Nobile of Tempe, Ariz., Christopher Nobile and wife Laurie of Dingman's Ferry, Linda Valenti and husband John of Cooper City, Fla., Brenda Rigney and husband Quintin of Pembroke Pines, Fla., and Paul Stanley Shoemaker of Louisville, Ky.; seven great-granddaughters, Morgana and Kiera Leyden, Alison and Olivia Nobile, all of Dingman's Ferry, Emily Shoemaker of Louisville and Samantha Valenti and Jodi Valenti of Cooper City; two sisters-in-law, Annabelle Kline and Martha Shoemaker, both of Frederick; nieces and nephews; a special niece LaVerna Cramer and husband James of Fort Myers, Fla. and long-time friend Evelyn Korrell of Frederick. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Evelyn Nobile, son-in-law Joseph C. Nobile, sister Beulah Masser, brother Uriel D. Kline and four half-brothers, William, Keefer, John and Charles Kline. The family wishes to express their thanks to Dr. Eric Bush and the nurses, staff, and volunteers at Kline Hospice House for their loving care. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Friday, March 7, 2014 in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Helen Smith, Centennial Memorial United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
