Robert Holmes Willoughby

January 15, 1924 — March 19, 2014

Robert Holmes Willoughby, 90, of Frederick, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2014 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of 59 years, to the late Agnes Marea Kimble Willoughby. Born January 15, 1924, in Dowingtown, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late William Almer and Lillian (Falkenstein) Willoughby. He was a charter member of Good Shepherd Church of the Brethren and Arlington Church of the Brethren. Robert worked for 32 years for Montgomery County Schools as a teacher at Kensington Junior High and Randolph Junior High Schools. Robert is survived by one daughter, Gloria Carr and husband Michael; two grandsons, Sean Carr and wife Lisa and Brian Carr and wife Jamie; one great grandson, Aiden Carr; three brothers, James Willoughby and wife Marilyn, David Willoughby and wife Barbara, Donald Willoughby and wife Marie; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Curtis Allen Willoughby, one sister, Evelyn Bortner and one brother, William Willoughby. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 3 to 5pm at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, Maryland. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 2pm in the Chapel at Homewood at Crumland Farms, 7404 Willow Road, Frederick, Maryland 21702. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Pastor Sandi Evans Rogers will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Homewood Benevolent Fund, P.O. Box 250, Williamsport, Maryland 21795 or to the Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201Fairview Avenue, Frederick, Maryland 21701.
