Dr. John Thomas Ferguson, Jr.

Dr. John Thomas Ferguson, Jr., 68 of Walkersville, Maryland left this earthly life on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Frederick Memorial Hospital and now resides in a heavenly dwelling. He was the husband of Susan Cuppett-Ferguson. Born on November 8, 1945 in Raleigh, NC, he was the son of the late John Thomas Ferguson Sr. and Annie Victoria (Lee) Ferguson. As an infant he moved with his parents to Frederick, where he grew up in a loving home. John attended public schools in Frederick and graduated from Frederick High School in 1963. He attended Western Maryland College in Westminster, MD, where he majored in Biology, graduating in 1967. He studied dentistry at the University of Maryland Dental School and graduated in 1972. Upon his graduation, John served as a Captain in the Unites States Army Dental Corps in Fort Richardson, Alaska. John began his dental practice in Jefferson within a year of returning to the Frederick area. Over the years he also had offices on Tollhouse Avenue and Riverrun Court both in Frederick. He was still a practicing dentist to the time of his passing. In addition to his wife, John is survived by his son, David Edlow Ferguson and his wife Sarah, of Fredericksburg, VA; his step-son, Nathan Stockley, wife Gabrielle and granddaughter Sage of Kill Devil Hills, NC; a brother, William and wife Nancy of Wolfsville, MD; also by aunts and cousins in the Raleigh, NC area. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 4-7pm at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 30, at 1pm at the Brook Hill United Methodist Church, 8946 Indian Springs Road, Frederick. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
