Mrs. Esther Rose Keyser 91, of Frederick passed away peacefully Tuesday May 27th, 2014 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was with family at the time of her passing. Esther was born in Leipzig Germany on October 11, 1922. She went to London, England to study nursing in 1938. She moved to the US in 1948 and resided in Chicago, IL. She met Charles Carbaugh and they married in 1951. In the later years Esther went on to marry Bernard Keyser in 1989. Esther loved nursing. She worked at Tampa General Hospital, Tampa Florida and Frederick Memorial Hospital and did private duty as well. She was a member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church in Utica, MD. She was a member of AARP and S.A.L.T. of Frederick County. Esther loved playing bingo at her favorite place, the Yellow Springs Lions Club. She was a big fan of Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and crossword puzzles. She spoke multiple languages, played the keyboard and harmonica, loved dancing, traveling and was a competitive game player. Surviving her is her brother Gerd Gorne of San Cristobal, Venezuela and her children; Audra Frank of Stewartsville, NJ, Shirley Church and husband Jack of Fleming, OH, Jim Carbaugh of Frederick, MD and Peggy Thomas of Manassas, VA, step sons; Stanley Keyser and wife Nancy of Cumberland, RI , and Larry Hutson and wife Dianne of Stockbridge, GA. Grandchildren: Duston Frank, Brian Corson, Adam Corson, Ashley Harrington, Brittany Thomas, Cearra Thomas, Scott Carbaugh, and Katie Carbaugh, Duston Frank, David Keyser, Steve Keyser, Candy Frizell, Robert Hutson, Ashley Church, and Kendra Patterson, great grandchildren Dustin Myles Frank, Izabell Corson, Samantha, Brooklyn and Susanna Jo Corson, Angelina, Judith and Myles Harrington, Charlotte, Elizabeth, Tristan, and Karine Keyser. Is also survived by additional family and friends, Blane Thomas, Loretta Veres, Mary Morgan, David Floyd, Carol Thomas, Suzie English and many other nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her husband Bernard Keyser, ex-husband Charles Carbaugh, Son in law David Frank, Daughter in law Robyn Carbaugh and grandson Brian Carbaugh and Brother Arnold (Peter) Gorne. As well as her parents, Isador and Marghareta Gorne. The family would like to thank FMH Hospice and Homewood for their kindness and care. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 30th from 4 to 7 PM at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701 where services will be held in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 2:30 PM. Rev. Albert K. Lane III will officiate. Internment will follow at Mt Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
