Rev. Daniel Brooks Andrews, 31, of White Marsh, MD, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2014, at his home. Dan was born in Siler City, North Carolina on January 16, 1983, a son of Patricia (Brooks) Andrews, of Baltimore, and the late Rev. Richard Willard Andrews. He graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute (2001), Frostburg University (2005) and Drew Theological School (2009). In 2011, he was commissioned as a Provisional Elder in the Baltimore-Washington Conference of the United Methodist Church. The churches that he served were Doubs/Epsworth UMC, Catoctin UMC and Cowenton-Chesaco Cooperative Parish. In his spare time, Dan enjoyed music, hiking and kayaking. His biggest passions in life, were helping those on the outside, those needing to know God's love and those who have been burned by the church. Dan had a love for learning and discovering new ways of reaching people with the love and acceptance of Jesus Christ. Surviving him are siblings, Rev. Sarah Schlieckert and husband Chris, Elizabeth Andrews and Jordan Andrews, two nieces, Anna and Mary Schlieckert, whom he loved to spend time with singing and dancing, his grandmothers, Anne Brooks and Grace Andrews, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Rev. David Andrews and Lt. Col. Kenneth Brooks, (RET.) Celebration of Dan's life will be held at 3 p.m., on Sunday, June 29, 2014, at the Calvary United Methodist Church, 131 West Second Street, Frederick, MD 21701. Interment will be private. Arrangements are with Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, Frederick, MD. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Streets of Hope, P.O. Box 34073, Essex, MD 21221.
