Mrs. Linda Spangler Berkheimer, 70, a resident of Frederick, Maryland, since 1975, died suddenly on June 24, 2014, at the Norfolk General Hospital, in Norfolk, Virginia. She was the wife of Philip A. Berkheimer. Born in Front Royal, Virginia on May 3, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Robert C. and Martha Finch Spangler. Linda was a graduate of Mary Washington College, she was an avid bridge player, golfer, bowler and loved to travel. She was an active member and treasurer of the Friends of Waterford Park. Her proudest accomplishment was the unconditional love and affection of her grandchildren. Surviving in addition to her husband are her three children, Philip A. Berkheimer, Jr., of Frederick, Elizabeth B. "Betsy" Pakenas and husband Peter, of Middletown, and Karen B. Morton and husband Thomas, of Frederick, her five grandchildren, Drew Berkheimer, Thomas E. Morton, Jr., Martha G. Berkheimer, William P. Pakenas and Paige E. Pakenas, two brothers, James B. Spangler and wife DeAna, of Augusta, GA, and Gary F. Spangler, of Wilmington, DE, and her sister, Sally Miley and husband Charles of Madison, WI, and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., in the Coffman Chapel of Hood College, Frederick, with a reception on campus immediately following the service. Interment will be private. Arrangements are with the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick.
