Mr. Richard Walter "Dick" Rinehart, 80, of Keedysville and formerly of Frederick, died on Sunday, July 13, 2014, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born in Frederick on May 8, 1934, he was the son of the late Walter J. and Katherine Burkholder Rinehart. Dick was a graduate of Frederick High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and continued serving many more years in the reserves. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans Chapter # 142.. Dick was retired from the government having worked as a graphic illustrator for NIST. He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church and served as an usher for many years. He was a life member of the Moose Lodge in Frederick, and also was a member of the Francis Scott Key American Legion Post # 11 and was a coach for the Frederick Baseball Association during the time his son played. He was an avid Maryland Fan and belonged to the Terrapin Club. Dick was very active with the Columbia Lodge 58 A.F. & A. M., and had served in many cap capacities, and at a regional level. He was a member of the DeMolay, Shriners, KeystoneKopps, the Tall Cedars # 132, Knights Templar, Enoch Royal Arch York Rite #23, PGTC, PDDSTC District # 21, PTCFT, P Scribe, Past Thrice Illustrious Master and the hillbilly's. He was recently honored with the highest award in DeMolay, the Legion of Honor . Surviving are his children; Daniel L. Rinehart and wife Laura, of Leesburg, VA and Deborah A. Christ and husband Chris, of Keedysville, seven grandchildren; Dylan L. Rinehart, Emily R. Rinehart, Kali-Anne Rinehart, Trevor J. Rinehart, Hayden J. Rinehart, Tanner C. Christ and Kaitlyn E. Christ, two great grandchildren, Zoe and Olivia Rinehart. He will also be remembered by his former wife and friend, Billie B. Rinehart, of Frederick. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, July 18, 2014, at the funeral home. The Masons will conduct a memorial service on Thursday at 8 PM. The Rev. Tim May, will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
