Mrs. Betty Jane (Smith) Boyer, 79, of Frederick died Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of John O. Boyer, Jr. Born August 24, 1934, in Libertytown, she was the daughter of the late Horace and Violet (Clary) Smith. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, John Boyer, III and fiancée Mary Shank, daughters, Linda Hobbs and husband Richard and Bonnie Siler and husband Dave, 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, brother, Roy Smith and wife Mary, half-sister, Mary Kidd, numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Marie Zebroski and half-brother, John Fritz. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8pm, on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel, at the funeral home. Rev. Kenneth Gill, Jr. will officiate.
