Edna Irene Ricketts Lenhart passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the Vindabona Nursing Home in Braddock Heights, Maryland. Mrs. Lenhart was born on June 6, 1914 and had recently celebrated her 100th birthday. She was the wife of the late Roger K. Lenhart who died in 1982 and the daughter of the late Harley and Zoe Stull Ricketts. She was born in Araby, Maryland and her family later moved to Flint Hill where her parents were engaged in farming. A life long resident of Frederick County, she spent her retirement years living at Crestwood Village in Frederick until her health failed. Along with all the members of her family, she was a life long member of the Flint Hill United Methodist Church. She worked at Price Electric Company, Sears Roebuck and J.C. Penny Co. Her hobbies included sewing and over the years she became an accomplished seamstress. Gardening was one of her favorite past times and she also loved her crossword puzzles and enjoyed all her family. After her retirement she was very active in the Red Cross Blood drives as a volunteer. She is survived by her son William K. Lenhart (Sam) and wife Joan, and her daughter Dorothy J. Lenhart (Dottie). Also surviving are four granddaughters, Karyl Curtin, Sandra Ferguson and husband Bill, Lori Winn and husband Brad, and Susanne Fedorkuritz and husband Paul, six great grandchildren, Lindsay Winn, Billy Ferguson, Emily Dempsey, Joshua Winn and wife Brooke, Steven Ferguson and David Dempsy, one brother, Horace Ricketts and also survived by a niece Susan Furst. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Lenhart is predeceased by a brother Herman Ricketts and wife Loretta and their son Daniel, sisters Mildred Ricketts, Ruth Ann Ricketts and Evelyn Ricketts Hemp and her husband David Hemp. The family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful care Mrs. Lenhart received by the staff at Vindobona Nursing Home, Dr. Hiram Shah and the Braddock Heights Ambulance Crew. Friends will be received on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick where services will be held in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 10 AM. Pastor Bob Ruggieri of the Flint Hill United Methodist Church will officiate. The interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. Serving as pallbearers will be Karyl Curtin, Lori Winn, Sandra Ferguson, Susanne Fedorkuritz, William Ferguson, and Brad Winn.
