Norman Christopher Usiak, 49 of Frederick, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore. He was the loving husband of Sandra Launi "Sandy" Usiak. Born on August 10, 1965, he was the son of the late Norman and Margaret "Marge" Usiak. An avid defender of justice and truth, Norman graduated Cum Laude with a Juris Doctorate from Duquesne University in 1990. He was brave and courageous both as an attorney and in his battle with cancer. Norman was self-employed in private practice for 15 years before forming the partnership of Usiak, Somerlock and Peters. He was a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Knights of Columbus and a member of Holy Family Catholic Community. An avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he enjoyed gardening, being a soccer dad, walks with his wife, and his dog Ginger. His favorite moments however, were spending time with his family either during the holidays or watching his favorite TV shows with a bowl of popcorn. In addition to his devoted wife, he is survived by his three daughters, Claire Christine Usiak, Katherine Melissa "Katie" Usiak, and Julia Elizabeth Usiak; one brother, Frank Usiak; two sisters, Rita Ann McNamara and Susan Harchelroad; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Clara Miszkowski; brother in law Eugene "Mac" McNamara; and his father and mother in law, Dr. Anthony and Mary Launi. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, Maryland 21701. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am on Tuesday, September 2, at the Holy Family Catholic Community, 7321 Burkittsville Road, Middletown, Maryland 21769.
