Mr. Paul Henry "Junior" Ropp, Jr., 76. of Frederick, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Cynthia Diane Winpigler Ropp. They were married on January 23, 1965. Born in Hawbottom on January 27, 1938, he was the only son of the late Paul Henry, Sr., and Dorothy Myers Ropp. Junior served his country in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963. He was retired as a mechanic after 45 years of service for C. Edward Winpigler & Sons. He was a member of the Francis Scott Key American Legion Post #11 and a former member of the Eagles Club. He had attended the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, Boonsboro, enjoyed riding motorcycles and he was an avid deer hunter. He also loved his dogs, Lassie and Buster. Surviving in addition to his wife are four children; Diane L. Grove and husband Alan, of Boonsboro, Doris E. Bonner and husband Michael, of Knoxville, Paul E. Ropp and wife Vikki, of Walkersville and Richard E. Ropp and wife Karen, of Frederick, nine grandchildren, Brandon, Megan, Kyle, Caleb, Madison, Justin, Jacob, Alexa, and Lucas, one great grandson, Brody, four sisters, Barbara Sparkman and husband James, of Thurmont, Shirley Ferguson and husband Mike and Ruth Warnock and husband Hal, all of Frederick, and Nancy Bagent and husband Wayne, of Braddock and many nieces and nephews, and special friend, Carroll Sparkman. He will also be remembered by his wife's family, Sonny and Peggy Winpigler, Hubert and Eleanor "Sis" Winpigler, David and Carole Winpigler, Judy and Kenny Rice, Adrian and Betty Winpigler, Pam Martin, Ramona Ridgely, Bion and Billie Winpigler, Shawn and Becky Winpigler and Coral Keller. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Ann Ropp. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Yun OH, his nurse's and entire staff for all the kindness shared during the illness. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at the funeral home. The Rev. John Schildt, pastor of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, Boonsboro, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
