Mrs. Doris Lorraine Ropp, 77, of Frederick, died on Friday, September 12, 2014, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, in Middletown. She was the wife of the late John F. Ropp, who died in March 1974. Born in Frederick, on June 16, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Charles E. Sr., and May Mills Whisner. Mrs. Ropp had worked in private nursing for 16 years, as a seamstress for Sagners Clothing Factory and also as a welder at Airpax. She enjoyed art work, drawing and traveling on vacation, especially to the beach. She enjoyed family gathering's and loved her cats, Miss Kitty, Holly and taking care of her grand dog Spritzer. Surviving are her children, Dennis Whisner and Brenda Whisner Hostler, both of Frederick and Cotton Althea Rudy and husband Sonny, of Middletown; three brothers, Charles E. Whisner, Jr., Robert Whisner and wife Catherine and Guy Whisner and wife Ethel, all of Frederick; four grandchildren, Eric Whisner, Evette Whisner, Jamie Hostler and Jason Smith; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandson and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Irene Elkins and brother, Phil Whisner. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. Tim May, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Rocky Springs Cemetery, Frederick. Pallbearers will be; Barry Bussard, James Heaney, Fred Miller, Jeff Gastley, Curly Schell and Mark Kazda.
