Carol Ann Hissey, 67, of Frederick passed away on Friday September 12, 2014 from complications of COPD. Born March 29, 1947, she was the daughter of the Margaret (Jimmie) Murphy and the late Mehrl L. Murphy, Sr.. She was the beautiful and loving wife of Bryan M. Hissey for 49 years. Carol graduated from Frederick High School, Class of 1965. She was employed by Geico for 29 years. She then worked for Frederick County Schools as an attendance secretary at Gov. Thomas Johnson High School. Carol also worked as a bartender at FSK Post 11 of the American Legion for 15 years. Carol was a Life Member of FSK Post 11 the American Legion where she co-chaired the Junior Auxiliary, and was a member of the Post 11 Baseball Committee. She was also a member of VFW Post 3285 Ladies Auxiliary. Carol had a tremendous love of people and touched so many lives with her infectious smile and quick wit. She loved her family and friends and especially the students at Thomas Johnson High School. Carol's hobby was her four grandchildren, Tyler and Zach Jones, Jake Hissey and her beloved Abby Hissey. They were the love of her life. To celebrate their 49th wedding anniversary Carol and Bryan, along with her best friend Judy Wright and Paul Hargett, traveled to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Carol and Bryan enjoyed Easters in St. Petersburg, Florida for the past 30 years with good friends the Kelly's, the Fox's, and the Markey's. Carol is survived by her husband Bryan M. Hissey, her children Jaime Shires and her husband Pete, Bryan S. Hissey and his wife Debbie, her mother Margaret (Jimmie) Murphy, her sisters Ginger Hawes and Cathy Abshire, and brother Mehrl Murphy Jr, along with many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, on Wednesday September 17th from 4pm - 8pm. Funeral services will be held at Evangelical Lutheran Church, 31 East Church Street, on Thursday September 18th at 11am with Reverend Tim May officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery and a reception will follow at the FSK Post 11 American Legion. Pall Bearers will be Tyler Jones, Zach Jones, Bill Jones, Jacob Hissey, Michael Kelly, and Wayne Fox.
