Mrs. Belva Catherine Oland, 86, of Meadow Road, Frederick, died Thursday September 29, at the Citizens Care and Rehab. Center. She was the wife of Frederick O. Oland, who died May 4, 2007. Born May 22, 1928, in Frederick County, she was the daughter of the late Jennie B. and Marshall A. Carpenter. She was also preceded in death by son Gary L. Oland, and brother, Gerald M. Carpenter. Surviving is one son, Terry T. Oland and wife Sharon, daughter in law, Ginny Oland Pollack, two brothers, John U. Carpenter and wife Naomi, Larry A. Carpenter and wife Mary, sister in law, Cathy Carpenter, grand daughter, Emily Oland Squires and husband Skip, two great grandsons, Ryan and Connor Squires, and many nieces and nephews. Belva was a homemaker for most of her life. Belva with husband Fred at her side loved traveling to ballgames, trap shoots, or whatever activity her two boys were involved in at the time to cheer them on. Bell and Fred were known to all by Aunt Bell and Uncle Sarge. Keeping score, providing food, transportation, cold drinks, umpiring, first aid, and whatever their expanded family needed, they always provided. Friends may call from 1 to 2pm, on October 6, 2014, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church St. Frederick, MD. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel at the funeral home with Rev. Raymond T. Moreland officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. Serving as bearers will be John, Larry, Marshall, and Gerald Jr. Carpenter, Al Smith, and Josh Smith.
