Mrs. Marjorie Aileen Mackley, age 91 of Frederick passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014 at the Golden Living Center, Frederick. She was the wife of the late Edwin O. Mackley, Jr. who passed away in 1998. Born on August 8, 1923 in Branson, Missouri she was the daughter of the late Benjamin E. and Edna Mae (Butts) Franklin. Mrs. Mackley was a 1942 graduate of Central Muskogee High School in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She met her husband in Muskogee where he was stationed in the Army. They married in 1944 and moved to his hometown of Frederick after World War II. She worked as a telephone operator. After moving to Frederick and raising her children, she worked as an AVON lady for over 25 years. She was a long time member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed traveling, quilting, writing poetry and especially dancing. Mrs. Mackley is survived by her son, Edwin L. Mackley and wife Mary Pat Dougherty of Frederick, her grandchildren, Sarah A. Dawson and husband Michael of Lincoln Park, NJ, and Hagen Edwin Mackley of Frederick. She is also survived by her brother Joseph Franklin of Port Orange, WA. In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by two sons, James Scott Mackley and Franklin Keith Mackley, her grandson Robert A. Mackley and six brothers and five sisters. Friends will be received on Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 4:30 - 7 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick were a memorial service will be held in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 11 AM. Rev. Sandi Evans Rogers of the Frederick Church of the Brethren will officiate. Private Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick will follow a reception. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. Mackley's name to Hospice of Frederick County, PO Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
