Matthew Bartgis

Matthew Lee Bartgis, 23 of Libertytown, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2014. Born March 2, 1991 he was the son of Harry and Jane Bartgis. Matt was a past member of the Mt. Pleasant Ruritan Club and when he was younger he attended the Mt. Zion UM Church. Matt is survived by his brother Jerry Bartgis and wife Emily, aunts, uncles, cousins, great aunts and a great uncle. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Floyd and Grace Altman, Richard and Effie Bartgis, uncles Henry Altman, Frank Bartgis and cousin Jimmy Vallerie and best friend John Becker. Friends will be received on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 from 2-4 and from 6-9 pm at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, where services will be held in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home on Thursday, October 16 at 10 am. Rev. Richard Baker and Pastor Brian Green will officiate. The interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. Serving as pallbears will be Jerry Bartgis, James Altman, Mack Martin, Josh Allen, Joey Smith, and Danny Fox.
