Doris Windsor Koontz Bane

Doris Windsor Koontz Bane, 92, or Frederick, passed away peacefully with her children by her side, on Thursday, October 16 at Kline Hospice House, Mount Airy. She was the wife of the late William J. Koontz, who passed away on December 20, 1984 and the wife of the late Jack M. Bane, who passed away on July 10, 1998. Born on December 20, 1921 in London, England, she was the daughter of the late Alma Thomas and Elizabeth Wright Windsor. She attended high school in England and served in the English Armed Forces during World War II. Doris arrived in America as a British War Bride and was an active member of The British Brides. Doris was a homemaker for most of her life. She also worked at The Fabric Shop and Townhouse Fabrics in Frederick. She was a beloved wife, mother and devoted grandmother and enjoyed family visits, especially from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing, painting, dancing, golf and traveling. She was an avid reader and enjoyed talking about her favorite books. Mrs. Bane is survived by her son Michael D. Koontz and wife Cindy and her daughters Susan C. Caamano and husband Manuel and Barbara E. Bowers and husband Chris. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Courtney Bassett, Jill Kohlenberg, Josh Kohlenberg, Angie Grissom, Michelle Smith and Cheryl Smith, her 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews. Doris will also be remembered fondly by devoted friend Dave Brocato. She was preceded in death by her son, William W. Koontz and her brother, Ronald R. Windsor of England. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 20 from 6-8 PM at Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 21 at 11:00 AM in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home, Pastor Clayton Clark ,Sr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the name of Doris Bane to Kline Hospice House, C/O Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
